Help,in need of advice - I miss him..And them?

I think you just miss what is easy. It's not easy to go back. I think you shouldn't go back. You know you could be the exception where you can be friends. But if there is lingering feelings I wouldn't go that way. It will get sticky especially if he finds a new girlfriend or his friends start trying to get with you. Or even if the friends start getting too buddy buddy with you and tell you things you don't want to hear about the guy you once dated.
