I've herd you can and can't run a dry shot of nitrous on a carb'd bike?

I've herd both things and don't know what to believe. I would be putting nitrous on a 06 yzf600 which is carb'd but I don't like wet shots, I'd rather do a dry shot. Ive been told i can run a dry shot but not much, only about a 10-15 shot. Anyone know? If so, why can't I use it in a carb'd engine?
