How to handle this without seeming rude?

I just recently received my license to drive, and I decided to text my buddy and see if he'd like me to pick him up to get a bite to eat. He agreed but asked if it'd be okay if a few of his friends he was hanging with could come as well. I'd have no problem with this at all but my car can only accommodate five people total, and it would certainly be rude to exclude anyone, obviously. None of these other fellows have their license, so it's not as if we can go in separate vehicles, so what do I say to avoid being rude? Do I just be honest and explain my car can't hold that many passengers, and suggesting getting a bite some other time?
